Show Visitor Figures Down BRYCE CANYON During April 21.07R visitors came to Bryce Canyon National Park This was a decrease of 17 percent over April 1977 'i im I Total Bryce Canyon travel for the year through April was 42.R30, a decrease of 7 (xTccnt over the same period in 1977 In April 1,579 campsites were occupied, representing a decrease of 44 percent over April 1977 North Campground is open for camper use A two dollar fee is charged at the campground The Bryce Canyon lodge will open May 20. Bryce-Zion horseback trail rides are available daily at8:30am and 1:30 p.m. The Youth Conservation Corps eight week program will begin June 19 This summer Bryce will have a nonresidential i live at homei and a seven day a week residential (live at Bryce) camp Both camps will have IS enrollees, with equal numbers of boys and girls The staff members are Jim Clarke, Doug Talbot, Pat and John Kittelson. Kathy Kitchell and Beverly Roe The 30 ' enrollees were randomly selected and are now being contacted for summer employment. This summer, Bryce will have four Student Conservation Programs. Through the program thousands of young people (high school and college age) have the opportunity to assist National Parks and Forests by providing services in wilderness conservation, which would not otherwise have j been available. The four ' groups will be supervised by Phil and Blue Tierney, Hich and Lee Tillotson, Eric Ingbar, Iris Weiner and Elizabeth Rice The ! SCA will do maintenance on 40 miles of back-country trails |
