Show Highway 50-6 Sign Switch Nearly Complete in State Utah Department of Transportation maintenance workers are nearlng the completion of a $5,000 change in highway route signs resulting from the recent split of a major portion of US-6& SO. The Route Numbering Committee of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials made the route changes last November In keeping with Its national policy of elminating dual highway route designations. UDOT maintenance workers have removed the US-50 shields from route signs along former US-6450 which runs from 1-70 near Green River northward through Price to Thistle. From Thistle, it runs to the Moark Junction near Springville and then continues southwest through Santaquin to Delta. The route will now simply retain the designation "US-S," From delta to the Nevada-Utah border, the dual US-6450 designation remains unchanged. The AASIITO Route Numbering Committee re-routed US-50 to be congruent with 1-70 from the former US-6450 take off point near Green River to Salina. It then follows former U-26 and a small section of 1-15 from Salina through Scipio, Ilolden and Greenwood to Delta where It joins with US 6. UDOT workers have replaced the familiar state beehive route emblems along former U-26 with US-50 shields. In the near future, a large sign informing motorists of the route split will be erected along the side of US-6450 near the junction in the east section of Delta where the two routes go their separate ways. |
