Show Escalante Chit Chat BY FAY ALVEY The weather is so nice it makes the gardners feel like starting with the seeds. Things are very quiet here; Slim is on vacation, that Is how he referred to my numerous stays In the hospital, "I was on an expensive vacation," so he Is vacationing In the Pangultch hospital. He must have figured there was something over there worth seeing as he sent for his glasses, Que Porter came by and left his until we could get over. Jim, LaVee and a friend came from Orem Sunday and met us there, wc took Lola and the baby to go back with them. Mother Alvey and I had planned to go to Little's Ranch but Kay came down to see Slim so we visited there. Ethyl Griffin is also in the Pangultch hospital recovering from surgery, we visited !her, she looks pretty good considering all things. Tho town Is rather quiet, some of the oil rigs moved, Gloria and Lamar Grade moved to Farmlngton, New Mexico, some were going to tho Price area. Blake and Gurena Robinson got word of the death of their daughter Juana Staples of Richfield, the services were scheduled for Tuesday. Mary Ellen Coleman came home and brought Valeree's little girl to spend a few days, she and the Ivan Willis have born to a new granddaughter Lynn and Garna Mclnelly in Beaver, she Is number three girl and they have a boy. Gall and Donna Bailey cot word that Gloria and Mac Win-kle of Calif, have a baby girl. The Baileys had Dean and Elaine Shurts and family. Bob and Sandra Porter and family of Arizona. The Rol Porters had Kenneth and Marie Grif-fin of Provo and Haws and Ja-net Porter of Tooele. Evan and Elsie Roundy of Salt Lake Ci ty visited several days here with Rco.-Marlene and Stanley Stowe and son of Kanosh visited here at the Vernon Stowes and the DeLane Griffins. Ross and Jackie Woolsey got a new trailer house, Dinah and Mohr Christensen bought their old one. Marion and Peggy Spencer bought the trailer house from Sharon Dale Marsh and moved it on the Grant Spencer lot where Donald had his. Mary Errett is living in Lola Zenz's house and caring for Lola's dog. The Bee Hive girls, the mothers and leaders went to Tropic for Stake Bee Hive night. Nell Barker went to Colorado to visit Betty Jean Ross and family. Ivan Willis worked two days In Pangultch; he and Nelda, Doyle and Thelma Cottam went to Salt Lake City for the ball games, they left Ivan up there. Half the town went to Richfield for the ball games, Stewart Bailey was named among the top players. Morris and Neta Shirts went to Orderville to attend the funeral services of Ed Crofts, Neta and Amy were life long friends. Hazel and Vernon Griffin went to Panguitch to the doctor. Blom Ormond brought Nellie Bailey home to stay. Lois and Danny Spencer and family, Kathy Smith and baby came from Nevada for the weekend. Lorene Carrigun and small daughter of Salt Lake City are here at the Parley Pratt home. Everett and Caroline Williams and family vi-lted in Wayne County, Carlyle Baker and wife visited the Reeves Bakers, so did Flora ' Marchant. The shower for Linda and Charles Everett was well attended and the young couple has set up housekeeping in Salt Gulch. Kath-eryn Coleman is home and feeling better. Gene and Thais Griffin went to Richfield, so did Norman and Que Porter, Yukon accompanied them as far as Circleville to visit Laho- ma Dalston and LaRae Joined them. Usher and Eva Spencer had quite an experience, they talked to Ann and Karl in Guam over a ham radio hookup. An operator in Boise, Idaho connected them with one In Guam where Ann and Karl were waiting, then the operator in Boise got them on the telephone. Karl had won a golf tournament In Guam and gone to Saigon and took second place. They flew over the party of Pres. Nixon and got a bird's eye view of his activities. Calvin and Laretta Shurtz had sons Verl, Gordon and Ivan and part of their families home. Other visitors in town were J. C. and Eva Haws of Brigham City and Nan Morrell of Junction. Lora and George Rushton. Vcrl and Roy Hard-wick, the Rulon Petersons from the Salt Lake area. Jimmy Peterson left Jolyn and Shona here at the La Vera Griffin home while he went to Pa-rowan. Lovell Twitchell had a visit from his brother Alton. Speakers In meeting Sunday were Jay Porter and Kay Gates In the South ward. The North ward program was by Genealogical students Rula Spencer, Jan and Stan Llston, Orilla Cowles, and the Gordon Stak-ers sang. You work and slave a lifetime almost night and day to accumulate some property and put some cash away, you almost reach retirement and think you have it made when suddenly you're flattened and cannot make the grade, if folks could only realize their lease on life is short in fact we have no lease at all so live it from the start. |
