Show Hcnnvill? News Itorv MELBA D. SMITH News for week of 2 22 73 A Family Scout banquet and program was held recently at the chapel for scouts in the ward and their families. Doyle Nellson has Joined the Air Force. He is at Hill Field and graduated from school as Staff Sergeant. Lyton, Melba and JoAnn Smith visited Saturday with Mildred Deuel at Pangultch prior to Mildred leaving for Dallas, Texas to visit son Earl, Idell and Nathaniel Deuel, and visit Verdee and LeVon Deuel at Kearns on her way. The program in Sacrament meeting was under direction of Thorley Johnson; speakers were Collin and Milton Rose, Harry Johnson and Ken Piatt. Eliza Moore and two grandchildren of Pangultch visited at meeting and with relatives and friends. Jeanne and Lore-11 Rose, Cynthia Johnson, Jo-Ann Smith, Julie Goulding, Vickie Shakespear and Marilyn Partner sang a song. Stake Presidency and High Council was held Sunday. Thora Goulding spent the week with her mother Zella Willis. German came for her on the weekend and they returned to home at Orem. Verland, Collin, Milton and Brenda Rose and boys, Ken and Artoise Piatt and boys visited the Dave Roses over the weekend. Suzanne Evans also visited them Saturday. Dar and Helen Smith and family visited in town on the weekend. Those having birthdays this week are Dewey Willis, Nolan and Conrad Johnson, Dorothy Smith Llttlefield, Lee Smith. Week of March 1 Late news items: Gloria Ha-yden of Reno, Nevada spent Valentine's day with her mother Virginia Smith and other relatives Connie Kleese family and the George Thompsons of Cannonville, Gloria then took her mother to visit relatives in Moroni, Geneola, Eureka, Sprlngville, Kearns, Spanish Fork and Sandy, Virginia was away most of a week. Gloria brought her back in time to see son Dar L. Smith and family of St. George who were returning from Escalante after attending a testimonial for John Palmer. Eldon Palmer of Hawthorne, Nevada later In the week stopped to Virginia's with son John enroute to the mission home at Salt Lake. The Daryl Shumways brought her mother Minnie Smith and brother Tom home Saturday after they visited them at Heber City. The speakers in Sacrament meeting Sunday were Thora and Harry Partner; Marilyn Partner, Cynthia Johnson, Vickie Shakespear and Jeanne Rose sang a song. Lula Moore, ward teacher of MIA Special Interest class was in charge of a party for the married people at the chapel Saturday; there were 23 to attendance for pot luck supper and program. The Wayne Reynolds family , of Richfield spent the week-' ' end at the Jim Smith home. Rett and Christine Shakes-pear and children Kenny, Stephanie and Michelle of Cedar City spent Friday night at the Layton Smith and EJl. Shakespear homes. Herb and Viva Stoker visited one night with Frank, Lula and Frankle Moore. Elizabeth Baugh, Mary and Paula Chynoweth went to Og-den with the Cliff Bartons to the wedding of Mrs. Baugh's grandson Dennis, son of Velva and Rex Palmer. Having birthdays this week are Connie Kleese, Marian Willis, Kenny Shakespear, Fussell Dutton, Shauna Quitter; wedding anniversary of Lee and Thela Smith. Several cattle men had to spend considerable time hunting cattle and taking care of them In the lower country. The cattle aren't used to the amount of snow we have had this winter. Delene Llttlefitld and daughter Linda Mead visited last week with Elizabeth Baugh, they brought two of her great granddaughters with them. Leo Chynoweth, Marine Henderson and Mark Munson attended the wedding of Dennis Palmer at Ogden. |
