Show Escalante ChitCha BY KAY ALVEY This weather Is so changeable everyone is either sick or expecting to bo: some folks have the flu and others Just common colds. Wilford Liston had a shot to help him shake the flu and he had a reaction which was much worse than te original aliment, they rushed him to the Pangultch hospital where he spent several days, family members visited him until he came home. S. J. Alvey came home Sunday, his son Ray L. and family came from Roy and visited briefly, he was hospitalized over a month and really taught the hospital staff the Es-calante slang and had some pet names for the nurses, so he will be missed. Rodney Coltam brought his small son Tony home Sunday also, the baby still looked mighty peak-ed Guile Deuel Is still there and did not know when ho would be released. Janls Gledhill is there with a fine baby girl who came Into tho world enroute. Dean was out of town so Darrell Alvey was taking her and Melba Gates over, this is DarrelPs second experience of this typo so he may be cUled on qulto frequently, he said ho did not mind delivering his own babies but hated to start In on Dean's family. The grandparents, Ernie and Betty Hill came from Colorado to see the new mother and daughter, and Betty will stay awhile to see that they get proper care. Bill Griffin went to Pangultch to meet Nlckl and Evan Excell nd bring the little girl here while they attended a tournament. Bill was to be to our airport Tuesday morning to meet Dawn who is being released from the Page hospital. Mary Ellen Coleman and a friend went to Beaver to visit the Lynn Mclnellys who have just moved into their new home. Lynn Is having a problem with his leg but a specialist was coming in to give him expert treatment. Relatives here got word that Jerry and Rosalee Coleman of Kanab have a baby boy, making their family now two of each. Seeing Arnold Button and Jake Leibenguth one would think they may have met head on but they were In separate accidents enlarging their mouths so stitches had to be taken. Arnold went to Kanab and was playing the Good Samaritan helping doctor a calf which kicked Mm in the face doing the damage. Jake was Joyriding In a sand buggy and a freak accident cut his mouth and tongue. A Riding Club meeting was held at the Arnold Button home to make plans for the Race Meet to be held here the first of May. Effle and Kevin Spencer came from Vernal to visit friends and relatives. Vaunda Willis and small daughter Lisa came from Richfield and Fpent the week at the Ivan Willis home, Vaunda taught a sewing class working with stretch knits. Led Pratt was called to help witn her mother who Is hospitalized in Pangultch. (continued Inside) ESCALANTE (continued from front page) LaVcrn and Mary Griffin made it home safely after visiting Jimmle and Jolynn Peterson in California. Mary said they really enjoyed the time with tho kids but the going and coming was hectic, they went through everything except a hurricane, even a wind storm that hurled rocks big enough to chip their paint and pit the windshield, then there was snow and cold but they came through it ok. Said the kids were fine and may be transferred to Florida, Mary said they would not go that far to visit them. Mack and Jo Barney and family visited the Claron Barneys and the Berlin Osborns. Alfred and Bonnie Chlono had business in Pangultch and Richfield. We were a bit premature about telling of Lcda Emery visiting here, Iris Porter went to Salt Lake City with Bonnie Llle and Janet Larsen and will drive Leda's car with her in it back here. LaRue Spencer went to Pangultch for dental work, Rol Porter was over there for a school board meeting. Jerry Taylor sent for his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Von Fors-ythe of Wayne County to come for his promotion to the office of Teacher, they came and Mr. Forsythe did the ordination. The Elders Quoram put on a party for members and the Senior Aaronlc fellows and their partners, it was well attended. Don Heap had the program in charge and had some of his Seminary students entertain; Kris Droubay played a piano solo, and accompanied Dorthy Wayne while she sang, Jan Liston sang some numbers ac-companing herself on the guitar, Debra Griffin and Barbara Chynoweth put on a skit. Don Heap and family went to Hatch then on to Cedar City during the weekend. The Sophomores went to Or-dcrville for a basketball tournament but their luck was not too good, the boys were mostly coming down with colds. Don't forget the annual party March 20th in the South ward church, dinner at noon, program following and a dance at night. Remember coach Charley Brinkerhoff? Talked with his mother Kathy recently and found out about him; he went back to Logan to college where he got- his master's degree in Remedial Education and is now stationed in Cedar City enjoying his work with young people. They have four children, two of each, have a home there and are doing fine. It's time they say that heals many wounds, on this we will all agree, but it doesn't do much for wrinkles except make them plainer to see. |
