Show Many Activities Feature Council Meet CITY COUNCIL BRIEFS November Meeting. Mayor and all City Councilmen present. Report from Tax Research of the Utah Foundation read. It states: Among the 65 Utah cities Included in the study, Pangultch. had the lowest overall levy of 87.109 mills (J67.ll per $1000 assessed valuation), and Ogden had the highest rate of 110.13 mills during 1972. Mill rates, alone, however, do not always give an accurate comparison of relative tax burdens In the different communities of the state. Differences In the ratio of assessments to true market value also have an Important bearing on comparative tax burdens. This year Pangcltch was revaluatcd upward under the reappraisal program. Because of the upward adjustments tn Pangulch assessments the total mill levy was reduced by more than 22 mills from 89.20 in 1971 to 67.109 mills in 1972. William Degeus of the Utah State Highway Department was present with a proposal for Improving the main street light- ing along the business area. The cost of this would bo $2600.00. This was tabled for further study. Mayor Heywood read letters and discussed Revenue Sharing. $19,000.00 Is the amount the cities of Garfield County will get. Ok'd the purchase of sweeper for City Room. Voted to donate $50.00 to the Lady Lions to conduct the Christmas lighting contest Transferred the duties of Zoning Administrator to the office of the City Clerk. All bull-ding permits will be secured at the city office. Raised the pay of Marshal Dalton $25.00 per month. Channel 7 has been moved from the North Hill to a new relay station nearer to town. The reception on this channel is very good. It has a direct signal from Monroe Peak. It is hoped that commercial stations will be at the Monroe Peak and we will be able to Improve our commercial stations.' Ruled the city dump should be cleaned two times each month. |
