Quite a number of folks have a flu bug and some were really 111; Ray Griffin was get ting along fine with his recovery from surgery when he got the flu, but Is now getting the upper hand of it. Stan Llston had a hitch in his hike caused from a pinched nerve but he went to Provo for treatments and can walk better. Reeves Baker is In the University hospital in Salt Lake City holding his own, Laura is up there staying with Olive and spending what time she can with Reeves. Vergene Porter and son Shane went to Salt Lake City and brought Kevin home to recover from his recent surgery. Daniel and Orllla Cowles went to Richfield where she went to the bone clinic. Several car loads of women went to Panguitch for the cancer clinic. Mina Porter is bruised up from falling against her sink, those things do not glvo at all. Rol Porter went to Panguitch for a school board meeting. Bernard Schow and Dewey Willis are building a home for Frank and Marjie Leak of Bar-stow, Calif. They bought the Rodney Cottam lot on the hill across from Vic and Euzell. Thelma Cottam and Areola Gates made a weekend trip to Cedar City. Bob and Pat Sor-ensen have their mothers here to stay until after Thanksgiving, they are Alice Sorensen and Florence Hansen from Michigan. They moved to Phoenix for the winter and came for a visit here before the bad weather. Bob and Dale Marsh went to St. George for a Five County meeting, Thelma Marsh and Retha Shurtz went as far as Cedar City to visit and shop. Vera Young is here from Salt Lake visiting Whitey and Mar-alda Porter, she really looks good but thinks our prices are too high. Dixie and Theron Mitchell, Mildred and Lynn Gates went on a flying trip to Florida with nineteen other couples who work for Phillips 66. Geraldlne and Lane Llston and famMy spent the .ekend n Las Vegas with the Ronald Mechams Usher and Eva Spencer went to Provo to visit Patsy and Garl Cottam and family. Nancy Droubay and family went to Stlt Lake City for the week end. Grace Barney run the Motel. Talked with Grace about son Wade, he is more contented In New York now that he is getting acquainted, he has a Sergeant friend who took him to Connecticut and surrounding country, he also has a part time Job which helps. Howard Bingham and Kllx Byrue of Ogden made their yearly visit to the Zenz Rock Shop, they helped Lola get things done up for winter. DUP meeting was held Thursday In the ReUc hall with a good attendance, we are getting some potential members recruited. Homer and Earlene Nelson of Green River spent three days here at the Earl Woolsey home, Earlene celeb-rted her birthday anniversary Friday, the 13th with open house all afternoon for all of the re' lives, so many were working at different times. The S. J. Alvey home was rather densely populated; Ethan and Wanda Hansen and son Lynn came from Kenne-wlck, Washington, Frankie and Ronnie Freeman and three kids from Ely, Nevada, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Freeman from Salt Lake City, then Chan and Betty Mclnelly and two boys came from Kansas but they stayed at Twlla Mc-Inellys. There were two reasons for the gathering; Lynn has Just returned from an LDS mission to Australia, and the Ronald Freeman's baby daughter was due for christening. This was taken care of In the South ward Sacrament meeting with the Proud Papa doing the honors, both grandpas, Ethan Hansen and Douglas Freeman, greatgrandpa James Alvey and several uncles assisting with the laying on of hands. The speakers were Mr and Mrs. Karl Moss and Lynn Hansen bore his testimony. The North ward speakers were the Hansens, Ethan, Wanda and Lynn. Mary Errett visited with Lynn, he had labored In the same area where he had lived. Lynn left to go to school at BYU Bonnie and Holbert Smith and son Robert were here from Cedar Citv for the week.nd at the Blllie Davis home. Dr. Kazan is taking Blllie to Page hospital for some-heart tests. Nelda Willis worked in the clinic while Kathy Lamb was in Salt Lake City with Bill. Ruby's Motel has been changed to Quiet Falls Motel, but we could not find out why, oh It changed hands but where the Falls business comes In we can't figure out. The High school put on an outstanding assembly program for Veteran's Day with special invitations to all veterans. Ervin and Coleen Burrows loaded their worldly possessions Into trucks, one belonging to Lorell Munson, the other to a relative from north and left here to reside In Rexburg, Idaho. We were in Richfield Wednesday and saw Arnold, Leah and Taylor Button. Something worries me, Nelda Munson was there shopping at Safe-ways, do you suppose she is at outs with the Munson Grocery? Kept seeing Shana Goul-ding and wondered why she was here so often, found out she is teaching remedial reading here in the schools and rides to and from Henrieville. Missed last week the quilt-ings put in by Clarice Griffin and Idella Imlay. at Idella's they accused me of a crime, that of stealing the needle threader, of course my denial was emphatic and sincere but when we were gathering things up that needle threader was in my glasses case, my feeling are that they framed me. "Put your bL'st foot forward" is advice supposed to be sound, It's a wy to koep it out of your mouth and firmly on the ground. |
