Memoirs of a Hospital Hospitals are essential, on that we all agree, when you're ill or busted up it's the ideal place to be. Such places are quite numerous, as everybody knows, our County, having only one, sometimes it overflows. There's two efficient doctors, one short the other tall, wearing out their sweet young lives answering sick folks call. Their tools and methods are complex, to Improve the way you feel, and if they make a slight mistake the man to call is Neal. The kindly Superintendent carries in the mail, balances the budget, his methods never fail. The Blues singer custodian, of course is on the staff, he wields a wicked broom and mop and is generous with his autograph. The nurses are so careful with their needles making scars, they lose their lotion, soap and such, then find them in some patients drawers. That hard old xray table causes many groans, Shirley's the technician and she looks right through your bones; The cooks are really on the ball, they're seldom late a minute; they cover up your dinner plate so you can't see what's in it. The desk girls are polite and neat, they tell you with a smile, the doctor's not available, please wait a little awhile. Of course these folks are human the same as you and me, but they seem more like they're angels when you're sick as you can be. |
