Show More Tourists View Bryce Beauties HHYCE PARK SHOWS GAIN IN VISITORS The number of visitors at Bryce Canyon National' Park during 1956 exceed-, . ed all records of previous ,t ii' . years, according to travel statistics released by Superintendent Glen T. Bean. A total of 257,570 persons visited the park during tile past year, compared to 254,162 visitors in 1955. The greatest increase in travel came during the winter months, with December of 1956 showing an increase of 64 percent over December of 1955. In 1956, 27,404 persons in 8,727 cars used the campgrounds, in comparison with 26,045 persons and 7,398 cars in 1955 Stage travel to the park also showed a gain during the year, with 9,379 bus passengers in 1956 and 9,204 in 1955. The Increase in travel during the winter months, according to Supt. Bean, is partly due to a growing public, awareness that the roads to the Park are kept open to travel throughout the entire year. He stressed the fact that several of the viewpoints 'in -the vlc-s lnity of park headquarters are kept open all year, and some of the best views of the park may be obtained during the winter months. |
