Show Influenza , Epidemic o Up to tho present tlmo, only about a dozen cases of the dreaded epidemic, "Spanish Influenza", In-fluenza", exist In this city and no deaths as a result of the malady are yet reported. Tho Health Board got In touch with Dr. Bcatty in respect to quarantining quarantin-ing the patients and he advised; that the Board use Kb own discretion dis-cretion along this line, but that all patients must positively be Isolated and that those caring for the afflictod should wear a mask. Tho Board of Health is doing all In.thelr power to prevent pre-vent the spread of the disease. Spanish Influenza is more dangerous than many people lm-aglne. lm-aglne. Quite a number of our soldier boys throughout tho 'state have been victims of the disease and three deaths have already occurred In the county 'as a result of tho epidemic. Dr. Preston R. Merrill of Trcmonton was the first to answer the death roll and since his demise, Mrs. Sprague and Wesley Larson of 'Brlghanl City have been victims of the disease. Tuesday morning, October 15, J. Up to the time of going to press, relatives had not returned from Salem with the body so wo are unable to give tho date of tho funeral. Tho remains of Dr. Preston R. Merrill of Tremonton.wero taken to Logan Monday for burial. A long procession of automobiles and tho auto hearse passed thru 'this city enrouto to Logan. Dr. Merrill was tho son of tho lato Apostle M. W, Merrill and a brother of A. M. Merrill, formerly principal of the Box Eldor High school. Ho was associated with Dr. Whitlock of tho Whltlock hospital In Tremonton for a number of years. When Dr. Whltlock left Tremonton, Dr. Merrill1 took charge of tho hospital hos-pital which bears his name tho Merrill Hospital. He leaves a wife and several children and was one of Tremonton's most highly respected citizens. His death occurred Friday afternoon of last week. |
