After being isolated for forty-eight hours, as the result of a heavy rainstorm of four days' duration, dura-tion, partial communication again Is t st ah Ishod between Los Angeles and the outside world. There is still much concern felt by oflkials of the three transcontinental railroads reaching this city. Two long stretches of roadbed road-bed are washed away between Los Angeles and San Bernardino on the route used jointly by the Salt Lake and Santa Fe. Twelve persons, who had been marooned on a narrow strip of land between two branches of the Santa Ana river near Downey all night, when the river cut them off from escape, es-cape, were rescued early Sunday morning by members of the Venice I life-saving crew. |
