Show SHAW EXPLAINS WAR TALK. Did Not Predict War With Japan In Morrlstown Speech. Philadelphia. Leslie M. Shaw, former for-mer secretary of tho treasury, denied that ho had predicted war with Japan In his recent spoech nt Morrlstown, N. J., which is said to have occasioned comment in Toklo. "I did clto cortain well known facts, the logic of which spells war," said Mr. Shaw. "I cited the fact that wo sent sixteen warships to the Pacific ocenn to demonstrato our prowess, and hired twenty-seven ships built of foreign for-eign material in foreign yards, and floating foreign Hags, to carry the necessary nec-essary supplies, and stated what all men know, that one hostile shot from the meanest country that owns a gun would have sent every ono of these home, for no country would consent to have Its flag mixed up in our contentions." |
