Show Verdict, Not Guilty, Case Dismissed. ft The oaso of the Town of Gar land vs. John F. Owons came up in Justice Hyrura Jensen's court at Collinston Thursday, Deo. 8tli. The jury brought in a verdict of not guilty for dc-fendent dc-fendent and the ease was ordered order-ed dismissed. City Attorney J. I). Call represented the Town of Garland and Attorneys Win. J Lowo and Charley Foxley appeared for tho Defendant Owens.. Marshal Lewis Lilly-white Lilly-white and Clerk of the Town Board D. C. Chapman were witnesses for the prosecution. The jury consisted of Jno. N. Bootho, J. R. Standing, Evan Morgan and Robt. Fryer. The action was brought by tho Town of Garland to recover license on Owens' hotel, which defendant refused to pay on the ground that numerous private pri-vate houses in Garland were conducting rooming houses without license Case came before be-fore Justice Jno. Shuraway a fow weoks ago and defendant asked a change of venue to Justice Jus-tice Jensen's court. |
