At noon wo glvo them u feed of cut corn, In tho evening, sny llvo or half-past, wo again milk, and the roots and meal are again fed followed fol-lowed by straw ar chaff. This diet Is continued until about tho first ot March, when hay Is fed In placo of straw. Tho meal consists usually of u mlxturo of barley and oats. When necessary to supplement this some bran Is nddod, togethor with something stronger, such as low grada Hour or ground whoat, which brings tho mlxturo to about tho same weight ns tho barley and oats. Tho milking cows receive of this about a gallon each, twlco a day. I tlnd that oven yet my cows nro not fed to tholr full capacity, as when given a feed ot moal at noon It makes a considerable Increase in tho amount of milk. |
