Show The Court Took Judicial Notice. A Now Jersey correspondent contributes con-tributes the following in regard to a recent happening in the court of a local lo-cal maglstrato: A Justice In this city, upon complaint,- Issued his warrant for an alleged al-leged violation of an ordinance of tho city relative to tho registering of dogs. Tho complaint and warrant wore both bad. Upon tho defendant being brought beforo him, the Justlco said: "How do you plead, guilty or not guilty?" to which tho defendant, who was allowed no time to obtain counsel, coun-sel, replied: "Not guilty." Tho Justlco Jus-tlco then said: "I know a O d sight bettor. I flno you five dollars and ?2.S0 costs." Those words constituted con-stituted tho entire hearing, and, need-less need-less to state, certiorari proceedings ' are now pending. |
