Show let s have 11 a v e A band tho the news cannot why with all the money that has been paid for musical instructors tho the thousands ot of dollars that has boen been spent for fo r musical instruments and aid and tho the number of musicians that llva live in panguitch Pan gultch there la Is no community orchestra of 0 band about all that can bo be dug up Is a small danco dance orchestra with the accent on the small and then it Is a monetary consideration in our opinion thero 1 should be an orchestra of at ten to fifteen pieces to play tor for tie ane I 1 school festivities the junior prom the annual ball tho the carnival and other festivities the citizens pay the taxes buy the instruments but there seems to be some kind ot of a wrangle all the time and very little music in public the AI almighty mIghty dollar is not the only tiling thing and something should be lone done that would bring the pupils before the public then when they grow older the dollars could be a c consideration 0 n bid era tion we do not beatri that all the musicians should play lor for nothing all of the time but they could be released in squads and a ten piece orchestra playing placing all the time we do not know lust just how many instruments there aro are in panguitch Pan gultch and we are not saying that there la is no large orchestra here but we do say that we have never heard one neither are w Q taking any thing from I 1 idle gossip the writer of this article has been a traveler most of hla his life has had an interest in school bands and orchestras and has seen these these things accomplished and in smaller towns than panguitch Pan gultch have seii se ii musical organizations that one would be proud to hear and we believe that such could be accomplished right here we ilo do not mean that a music teacher in the schools should devote his entire time and energy after school hours toward community I 1 af affairs fairs and orchestras but we are positive that arrangements could be made maae tor for public appearances of such on an organization it the matter was gone into in the proper manner and t the he school he heart a rt and soul back of the proposition its not up to the tax payers as they pay the taxes and buy the instruments st rents and their pushing qualities stil should duld stop there lets see if we cann othave a demonstration of what the kiddies cladies a are re learning lets start today and see what can be accomplished shed it has only been three years since had a school band ot about twenty pieces that appeared on our streets once each week in concert and they were little tots tota at that they are all still here their instruments axe here and others have been added and still we never hear any music wo we claim that what has been done can bo be done and with the tourists that we will have this year and ud years to come we cannot think of any advertising that would be better than a good community band and orchestra but we have got to forget about that almighty dollar prop proposition propos llon and look to the interest of the chil children dran performing in public with their instruments Instrument a a little diversion tor for the public aside from dance music and jazz i the news Is willing to donate each month to 0 the upkeep of a public band and help pay a salary tor for an instructor tor for public band concerts each and every week and know that others will do the same produce the band and the pull public wll will do the rest |
