This morning at an early hour, two men .ent to the home of George Newberry, w ho is living liv-ing two miles w est of here. Newberry was absent, and the men demanded from his mother the money they supposed sup-posed he had received a few days previously. pre-viously. The old lady told them she had no money in the house, w hereupon they took her in the yard, tied her to the gate post, and sfashed her throat with a knife. One man then went back intothe.rtiouse, seized the child of seven years, e'd asked her where her father's money was. The child refused to tell him, whereupon the ruffian took her out inttKhe yard and cut her throat with a knife. Going back he took out the five-year-old girl and two-year-old baby boy, killed both in the sains manner, man-ner, and then piled the bodies together. The miscreants then went away. The old lady is still living, but cannot re cover, the ofhceis are scouring the country for the murderers. Destitution In Germany, Berlin, July 14. The VossLiche Zeitung says: Destitution among the lower ciasses of Germany is becoming intense. Potatoes, the usual price of which is 11 marks pr bushel, now cost 6 marks per bushel.
