Show Importing Skilled Tin lMate Workers. Washington, July 30. The secretary secre-tary of the treasury has written F. G. -enmiighans, of St. Louis, in reply to his query regarding the importation of skilled workmen for his tin plate mills, saying no regulations have been issued by the department prescribing forms relating to that subject. It is not the practice to express opinions or make advanced rulings on hypothetical cases that may arise, but lest Neidring-haus Neidring-haus might draw improper inferences of permission, his attention is called to the fifth section of the alien contract j labor act, and the suggestion made that the secretary is not prepared at this time to express any opinion as to whether skilled labor for the St. Louis Stamping Co. cannot be otherwise obtained ob-tained than by the importation of alien laborers. The secretary does not understand it was the purpose of the Superintendent of Immigration in his recent letter to Neidringhaus toexpress any opinions other than' those involved above. |
