Show The school teachers of the county are all jutt now excited over the rare intellectnal treat that awaits, them. On Saturday, May 12th, the for famed Dr. Kice, author of the Forum articles on "Our Public School System" and of "The Public School System cf the United States" is to deliver a lecture at the academy. The aim of the lecture will be to point out the essential features and the underlying principles of a scientific recitation. Its character will be popular rather than technical; and, while its special purpose will be to offer suggestions to teachers, ii will nevertheless be intended, not only for teachers, but for all persons sufficiently interested in the education of children to attend an instructive lecture on this subject. The lecture begins promptly at one o'clock. Admiesim 25 cts. The trustees and teachers of the county will meet at 10 a. m. and be addressed by Professor Brimhall of the B. Y. academy and Professor Stewart of the University of Utah, on subjects of special interest to trustees in the employment of teachers, and of general interest to teachers, students and citizens. Marshal Knight tobay filed a corr-plalnt corr-plalnt "on information and belief" with Justice Wedgwood accusing Wilson & eibaur with permitting gambling in the rooms at the rear of their saloon. The justice refused to issue a warrant of arrest on the faulty complaint. The male friends of Judge E. A Wedgwood were summoned by Mrs. Wedgwood to meet that gentleman on the occasion of his thirty-i ighth birth- day last evening. A pleasant time was ! had in pay conversation cards and a sumptuous dinner. This was one of the pleasant parties of the season, not because the ladies were left out but because be-cause all of the judge's friends were in at the feast. |
