Show I The Nicaraugua Canal in Congress To the Editor of the Evening Dispatch The news from Washington is that' there is a bill introduced into congress to guarantee enough bonds by the United States to build the Nicaraugua canal. Now I am in favor of the United Stales building that canal and owning it, and using it for the benefit of the whole body of the people, but I am op-posed op-posed to this scheme to take the people's peo-ple's money, or credit and building the canal with it, and then give the who'e thing to a favored few. The republican party carried a great many laws of that kind into effect, and the democratic ; party had better not try to follow in their footsteps, or the people may retire them both. That kind of legislation is what has built up so many colossal fortunes in th is country while the masses of the people are in want, or very near it. ' K. |
