After surveying over COMMITTEE one-hundred Upward Bound programs across the Country, the curriculum committee felt that the study could be used effectively as a model for summer academic programs. — The curriculum pattern chosen for the programs was an “Integrated Studies Curriculum”, Utilizing a thematic’ and problem solving approach coupled with a foundations program, the UB Advisory Committee felt that Integrated Studies incorporated the strengths of subject matter curriculum and the open access curriculum The conceived Foundations Program would begin in the Spring and diagnosis and treat various learning difficiencies in reading, communications, science and mathematics. Students involved in the Foundations program would receive individualized instruction, using such techniques as programmed REPORT ON SUMMER learn- é.
