Show The Broad Ax June 1975 Page | This is the first national issue of 7he Broad Ax. The “‘Ax” does not contain all of the information and material that we would like, but we hope you will consider it a good start and decide to join us in our effort to develop a superior publication. We have over sixty subscriptions but we need many more. We need your articles, news items and schedules. We need what you think others in the profession are interested in. Our major objective is the promotion of the collective interests of individuals working in educational opportunity programs. We support the concept of professionalization and the idea of a national organization. We believe the profession should be consolidated, improved and invigorated. The Broad Ax exists to give individuals the opportunity to discuss critical issues that are related to educational opportunity and to present ideas. It will disseminate information, facilitate communication between projects, state organizations and regional organizations, and inform subscribers. As we have stressed so often, The Sroad Ax will be what our readers make it. Our potential staff will gather information, research various issues and prepare reports, but project directors and others will provide the flavor.
