Students then performed the Star Spangled Banner in sign language. Spotlight on Education Lynzee Bartholomew Lynzee Bartholomew, a 6th grader at GVMS, is our feature student of the week. She lives in Mayfield, surrounded by grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and elk. She enjoys having her family close-by. The daughter of Jeff and Brenda Bartholomew, Lynzee’s favorite subject is math from Mrs. Childs. She does a good job in all her school work, having earned a 4.0 GPA for the first quarter. She likes to dance and ride horses in her spare time, and she also enjoys reading fantasy novels. No matter where you find her, she always displays a warm smile and positive attitude. Lynzee is one of the reasons GVMS is a great school. She works hard; plays fair; and always does her best. The school appreciates the excellent example she Lynzee Bartholomew sets for everyone around her. Congratulations, Lynzee! They cut down 20 or 30 small elm trees that were trying to take over the trees that are wanted. After filling 3 or 4 dumpsters and 10 garbage bags the area looks quite nice. They also trimmed the lower branches of the trees so that the trees will not obstruct the driveway when they grow larger. Thanks to these students. HEAP WEEK of the tyler Jensen This week’s Heap of the Week goes to Tyler Jensen. Tyler drives a 1994 gray Jeep Wrangler. “It’s good for climbing!” The night was packed with emotion as slide shows were shown, parts were read, and children used props to sing to the audience. The audience watched in amazement as the lights turned off and children sang out with the words: We can be a Light. Shining Everywhere. All across America. Showing people that we care. The evening was capped off with a slide show of the 145th Battalion serving in Iraq, while students sang “Proud to be an American.” The students had a great time preparing for the program and would like to especially thank Kari Hansen and Shawn Crane for their help with the slide shows.
