Show contract Is awarded for surfacing road kanosh man gets job of gravel ing auto highway from sil ver er city to millard co line cost will be per mile 0 at nephi last saturday the mem bers of the board of county commis held a meeting for the pur pose of opening bids on the job of 0 surfacing the new road through the tintic gintic valley this highway extend ing from silver city to a point near lynndyl lynndal several bids were submit ted and the prices ranged all the way from up to 2 per mile the lowest bid was that ot of D 8 S dor ritty of kanosh who agrees to sur face the north end of the road which ie Is nearest to silver city for per mile and his price on an the south 3 miles where a longer haul will be required to get gravel Is the board members after invests gating the matter quite thoroughly came to the conclusion that mr dor ritty Is in every way reliable and able to go through with the job hence they awarded him the con tract it is understood that he will start work within the next two weeks and that an effort will be made to corn com the surfacing of the road this all fall and winter unless the winter weather Is unusually severe it should not interfere with this work mr dorriety Dor ritty has announced his anten tion of using teams in the hauling of the gravel he has about ten teams of his own and Is now recruit ing his force juab county will keep an engineer on the job to see that the proper amount of gravel Is placed on the road the specifications call for a five inch coating of gravel among the other bidders are the following J L griffith co of salt lake 1649 per mile johnson rus sell and mills of holden 1111 50 per mile Pal Palf ereman miller of Spring springville ville 1040 per mile F A hebbard a geologist and mining en gincer who recently took up his re silence in eureka also submitted a bid on the job which was somewhat higher than those named above people are much pleased to learn that the work is to be taken up at once they feel that ever part of the road which Is in need of gravel should have attention dur ing the fall and winter months which would insure an excellent highway for the coming summer this road is part of the new grand central highway to the coast which carried a lot of travel during the past summer and which ought to be more generally used during the coming season |
