FkST EUBEXA EEFOETEk Tintio Anto Bond Badly Says Retailer Need Not Of Pay Tax On Cider Sales la Heed Attention -- 31 TRUNK LINES A It has 'been many years the auto road leading Into Tin tic fiom Utah county was In such a serloua condition as at the present time and local people are wondering if any improvements have hew planned for this highway. It was Quite ' a disappointment when the commissioners of Utah county failed to keep the fleet of trucks in this district long enough to gravel the road through the Pinion Canyon, but we have a promise from these board members that some work will be done on the local road before the wet weather arrives. That part of the road which is on "the slant between Elbert and the foothills is perhaps most badly in need of attention Just now. Unless something is dose with this road it will be unfit for travel next spring. Lack of drainage has resulted in the washing away of much of the road material, leaving the coarse rock over which autos must bump and bounce in making a trip either to or from Tin tie camps. Another, piece of road on our highway, that extending from the Standard's new mill to Goshen, ought to be resurfaced this fall. It is next to impassable during wet weather. The dealer took the matter up with an attorney at Salt Lake and an investigation was made, disclosing the feet that the tax on cider should be paid by the party who manufactures it. No tax is to be collected from the man who buys It over the fountain. On all drinks that are served without mixing such as root beer from bottles, cider, etc., the tax is paid by the manufacturer, not collected from the consumer at the time a sale is made. The local man will no doubt get a refund of his 1140, but in view-o-f the fact that the machinery of the national government moves slowly he may be much older before the money la returned to him. nt Owkw t euharit Card MW I ban hanwllh tin.
