Show may way day development at depth of 1800 feet 0 development work on the 1800 level evel ot of the may day mine in the tintic gintic district Is being carried on in the most promising formation yet encountered according to george H dern dorn manager of the company mr air dern recently returned from a visit ol 01 several days to the DIs brict says the tribune for the past two months a quartz fissure has been followed through a mottled limestone this mottled limestone Is considered the most favorable of the chief consolidated series in places thia this vein of brown quartz has been eight feet wide d I 1 other places according to mr dern rn land the quartz has pt pinched ached do down and 1 been cepla replaced ced by a breckl ed lime stone drifting raising dmd d sinking work has provene proven tha this quartz deposit is assays of the vein matter have shown own that the quartz carries fr one to three ounces of silver some of the vein matter shows copper stains mr dern considers this the best pros hect that has been encountered on the 1800 level and thinks that the P possibility of opening up an imbor tant deposit is good inasmuch as the work Is getting near the godiva side line and the vein making into that company s territory there Is a possibility that the codira company may assist in the prospecting of this showing by working framl the 1800 level of the may day one day last week ac cording to mr air bern dern was spent by jackson mcchrystal in inspecting the formation opened up in the may day mr air mcchrystal was so impressed by the showing according to mr air dern that he expressed himself as favorably disposed to the godiva company prospecting this fissure furthermore he stated that he would take up with the godiva directors the matter of doing this work I 1 operations at the mill are I 1 moving along in a satisfactory man ner considering the lethargy which Is affecting all lines of mining en deavor said mr dern at the new tintic standard plant the machinery is limbering up very satisfactorily and an excellent tonnage Is being treated with the progress that Is being made la in the treatment of ores the future of the mines of the district will improve immeasurably Is mr air dern derns s prediction especially with the present high cost of opera tion railroad and smelting rates milling Is attractive to mine opera tors there Is an enormous ton nage of low grade ores in the tin tic district carrying good values in copper silver gold and lead when the cost of milling Is reduced to a minimum and the reco recovery increased two conditions said to have been even at the present time very nearly ach achieved achT loved eved by several processes the prosperity of mines it is thought should be assured tor for a long period of years |
