I was pregnant with both my boys while working up here, too. I have the best coworkers ever and feel so lucky to be able to work with all of them. I feel like we are all a big Valley family. Anne Prepares to Give Back! - This August Anne will begin a year volunteering in Benque Viejo del Carmen, Belize as a missionary with the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT). She states, “I will be teaching at the St. John Paul II junior college in Benque where I will share my education, with which I have been blessed to receive, with a population in an area that has very limited learning resources. I am super excited and happy to embark upon this mission for Christ and I am eager to grow in my Christian faith through this year spent in what I know will be challenging missionary work. In order for me to begin this mission year, I am required to fundraise a total of $2,500 for my food and housing. I need your help! Please consider donating once or offering a recurring donation of any amount that you can spare. Every bit helps! Thank you so much for any help you can give!” The link for donating to Anne’s effort is noted below. When donating, please note Anne Davis’s name as the missionary for whom you are donating. “Any contribution to my mission is greatly appreciated, not only by me but also by the young men and women whom I will be teaching and who will benefit from a higher education.” SOLT donation link: https://solt.net/smv-donate Anne is the daughter of Terry and Clare Davis of Liberty. to each of the ten winners. A Giving Check is How Nonpro昀椀t Organizations Bene昀椀t Ogden Valley By Molly Miller, Valley Elementary 5th-grade student If you have any extra time and/or money, then you should consider donating to CFOV! CFOV stands for Community Foundation of Ogden Valley. CFOV helps nonprofit organizations in Ogden Valley. And nonprofit organizations help the community. Some examples of nonprofit organizations are Ogden Valley Land Trust, Trails Foundation of Northern Utah, Ogden Valley Adaptive Sports, and Snowcrest Parent Teacher Student Organization. Northern Wasatch rescue professionals are an example of a nonprofit organization. Training avalanche dogs, rescuers, and medical first responders in Ogden Valley. They also help the community safely enjoy the surrounding mountains. To begin with, CFOV takes the donations you make and gives them to local nonprofit organizations, or NPOs. Some of the NPOs help make fun activities like Liberty Days, the third and fourth of July parade and games come to life. When you go on a hike or just a walk to Valley Market, you should thank Trails Foundation of Northern Utah. TFNU builds trails and paths that the community can use. If you have extra time and you want to do something for your community, then maybe you should volunteer for a nonprofit organization. My favorite NPO is Ogden Nordic. Ogden Nordic promotes cross country skiing in the Ogden Area through coaching, events, and social gatherings. They build and maintain cross country ski’ trails in North Fork Park. Another of my favorite nonprofit organizations is Ogden Valley Park Service. Established in 1982, Ogden Valley Park Service hosts community events. One of the most popular events is the 3rd and 4th of July, known as Liberty Days. Without these two nonprofit organizations, none of these events would be hosted [as well as they are]. Nonprofit organizations are very important to Ogden Valley. Donate to CFOV to help nonprofit organizations in the Valley create a better community. How Nonpro昀椀t Organizations Bene昀椀t Citizens of Ogden Valley By Olivia Markiewicz, Subscriptions available for out-of-area residents at $18 annually. Valley Elementary 5th-grade student Imagine if nobody in your area donated money for events and recreational activities. Do you know who donates money to pay for things in your area? June 1 and 15 issues of the paper. For those people who live in Ogden Valley, a group called Community Foundation of Ogden Valley helps by donating money for 16 nonprofit organizations and gets awareness for those organizations and makes our community a better place. Many people do philanthropy to help their community. Philanthropy is giving your money, skills, time, and experience to help your area or somebody else’s. In this essay you will read about how nonprofit organizations help citizens of Ogden Valley, and a few of the 16 nonprofit organizations that they support. To begin with, many people enjoy skiing and snowboarding but can’t because of a disability that they have. One of CFOV’s nonprofit organizations is Ogden Valley Adaptive Sports. This organization gives people with disabilities ski and snowboarding lessons and even uses adaptive tools. The article, “Our Nonprofits” states, “Ogden Valley Adaptive Sports provides adaptive snow sports lessons at Snowbasin, Powder Mountain, and Nordic Valley.” Since CFOV supports this organization, almost everyone who wants to ski can! Did you know that one of CFOV’s other nonprofit organizations is Snowbasin Sports Education? Snowbasin Sports Education has programs for different types of skiing to encourage people to ski. Furthermore, CFOV helps with fun events at schools like Snowcrest and Valley Elementary. For example, CFOV helped pay for STEM day for the students at Valley Elementary. Doing this, students can do fun activities, enjoy learning, and explore new things. Without them, schools wouldn’t be able to afford events like that and students couldn’t experience those kinds of things. Finally, my favorite nonprofit organization that CFOV supports is Back Country Horsemen. Back Country Horsemen is a group of people who prevent motorized vehicles on trails by doing trail work. An example of this could be telling people not to use motorcycles on trails, they could do this by putting up a sign or getting more people to ride horses. Back Country Horsemen benefits the people of Ogden Valley by lowering pollution levels, helping the trails, and taking horses outside for a walk. Another nonprofit organization similar to this is Trails Foundation of Northern Utah. TFNU creates new trails for citizens of Ogden Valley to walk on and explore the wonderful nature that surrounds them. These trails can be used for kids, adults, and teenagers to walk, run, ride a bike, and ride a horse on. In conclusion, if you would like to give back to your home area, do philanthropy, donate money, or help your favorite organizations, you should join CFOV today! CFOV is a great organization, and supports many important nonprofit organizations that help our community in many unique ways.
