Show C4 The Emery County Review, Tuesday, July 15, 2008 EVENTS Castle Dale Elmo Desertview Pro Rodeo, Emery County Fair, Set to Ride into Town Horse -n- Buggy Days The Emery County Fair and Desertview Pro Rodeo will offer a little something for everyone as the crowd favorite draws large numbers to Castle Dale beginning July 24. The Desertview Pro Rodeo will begin for the first time on July 24 this year and will run through July 26, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the rodeo grounds in Castle Dale. With stock from Ike Sankey Rodeo Company, the 10th Annual Desertview Pro Rodeo continues to grow in popularity. This year, popular rodeo clown/ barrelman Scott Cameron will perform on July 26, and rodeo organizers are hinting at a huge surprise for guests on July 25. Right after the Desertview Pro Rodeo rides out of town, the Emery County Fair will take over beginning July 30 as exhibits to the fair are received and crowds are entertained with James Johnson “The Balloon Guy” from 1-2 p.m. The Dice Game registration will be held from 5-5:30 p.m., and the game itself will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. with a chance for some lucky person to win $15,000. The Balloon Guy will repeat his performance from 7-8 p.m. On July 31 the exhibits will be open to the general public beginning at 10 a.m. and free inflatable rides for children will be open starting at noon. A dinner for senior citizens will be held at noon at the fairgrounds, and beginning at 2 p.m. the Morris Brothers will perform. A community theater play will be held at the fairgrounds from 4-5 p.m. and the Little A bullrider holds tight during the 2007 Desertview Pro Rodeo. Miss Emery Pageant will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. A teen dance will top off the evening at 9 p.m. Aug. 1 is Kid’s Day at the fair with kids rides, the Baby Olympics and the popular Pet Show keeping young and old entertained throughout the day. On Aug. 2, the fair day begins with a parade at 10 a.m., followed by performances by HypnoHick, the fastest hypnotist in the west. Free rides for the kids will continue to entertain throughout the day and at 2 p.m. there will be Emery County’s version of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader. The evening ends with a free concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the rodeo grounds. Performing will be Western Underground with opening act Gwen Sebastian and Breakaway. A free cruise giveaway will go to one lucky concert goer. Helper Arts Festival offers a little something for everyone Aug. 15-17 local art vendors, painters, musicians, vocalists and sculptors. There will be activities for children and live art demonstrations. There will be horseshoes, kids games and a Guitar Hero or Rock Band Competition. Bring your mitts, bats and balls for a game of family softball. There will be a bike ride beginning at 6:30 p.m. Register at the new Town Hall. Registration is $3 and includes a sidewalk ride for the little ones and lots of prizes. (Please bring and wear your helmet.) Come hungry for dinner, which begins at 5:30 p.m. A family dance will be held at 8 p.m. and the entry fee is $3 per person. Fireworks will top off the evening at dusk. Concessions will be open for the hungry and thirsty throughout the day. Ferron Helper The Helper Arts Festival will be held in the historic town of Helper Aug.15-17 as downtown Helper gives way to become a huge outdoor art gallery with Elmo will celebrate Horse –n- Buggy Days July 24-26 with a variety of events for the entire family. On July 24 there will be an ATV ride with registration beginning at the junction of SR-10 and 55 at 5:30 p.m. There will be a $5 entry fee. The ride leaves at 6 p.m. and riders 15 and under should be ATV licensed and accompanied by an adult. On July 26 festivities get underway with breakfast and a flag raising ceremony at the park from 7:30-9 a.m. The parade will begin at 10 a.m., and at 10:30 a.m. the program Family Duel will begin. Elmo Town residents encourage you to stay for the day and help celebrate Horse –n- Buggy days. The afternoon will be filled with fun and games. There will be a bottle rocket competition and for those interested HVAC - Control System and Security Service Technicians St. George and Salt Lake City areas. Wednesday Sept.3 Bike Ride – 6 p.m. Exhibits accepted at City Hall from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday Sept. 4 Floral exhibits and baked or cooked items due at City Hall by 10 a.m..
