Sorenson's love of animals has always been a part of who she is. As a child she had cats and dogs, but Sorenson is no stranger to animals larger, smaller and creepy-crawlier. As the manager of the South Utah County Animal Shelter, Sorenson gets to interact with all kinds of animals on a regular basis. McClure, a native of Springville, witnessed a traffic accident in September 2008. He was the first to arrive at the scene, freed the motorist from the burning vehicle and rendered first aid. "Sergeant McClure's quick reaction, heroism and skill in providing needed first aid reflected great credit upon himself, the Utah Army National Guard and the United States Army," reads the award citation. He came to Mapleton 12 years ago because his daughters love horses and they needed the space to board them. Lundberg is married and has five daughters ranging in age from third grade to college. "I feel I have a responsibility to provide civic service," he said. Lundberg feels he can provide some value to the city based on his experience. He is a graduate of BYU law school and has worked in private, corporate and government legal practice for over 20 years. His specialty is dispute resolution and mediation. Lundberg is currently the Republican Party precinct chair and he feels he understands the political process in Utah county well. With the city's complex legal and development issues in mind, Lundberg hopes to "provide a lot of experience and help that will allow us to have more fiscal responsibility and keep taxes to residents as low as possible," he said. Lundberg's biggest concern relates to having more openness and citizen involvement in city business. He'd like to guarantee there will be no backroom deals associated with litigation and other difficult projects, and ensure fairness and enforcement of the Mapleton city vision statement and ordinances.
