Wrestling banquet held at SF high Spanish Fork High School Wrestling finished out their season with an awards banquet recently. The team had a great season. Awards were given to the following wrestlers: Eric Kitchen Outstanding Senior Wrestler; Mitch Kay Outstanding Freshman Wrestler; Tom Clark Outstanding Senior Wrestler; Kody Duncan Outstanding Sophomore Wrestler; Had- ley Thorpe Outstanding Wrestler of the Year; Kaleb Ashworth Outstanding Junior Wrestler and Chris Olson Most Improved Wrestler. Coach Dave Clark was also recognized for his work with the wrestling program over the last 30 some odd years. Coach Clark is retiring from the wrestling room this year. We have a great coaching staff and that shows in the great wrestling year that they* had. ALA Softball Sp Oaks Ladies hold opening social May 5 The Spanish Oaks Ladies held their Opening Social on May 5, 2009. It was a beautiful day and the course is in excellent shape. We met at 9 a.m. and drew for partners and tee times. The first group teed off at 9:30 a.m. After playing nine holes, a luncheon was served by some of the officers. This year's officers are as follows: President, Gloria Christensen, Vice President, Jolynn Griner, Secretary/Treasurer, Sandi Nilsspn. Ladies Day Chair, Nancy Yeck, Tournament Chair, Luena Francom, Travel Team Captain, Dickie Jane Sargent and Reporter, LaRue Taylor. Gloria gave a report on the planned activities for this year and asked everyone to give their full help to make this an exceptionally good year. Dickie Jane handed out the travel team schedule and told of the changes that were made in scoring the competition. Nancy explained the Ladies Day play. We will meet each Tuesday at 9 a.m. and draw. Allison Phillips / Spanish Fork News STATE TOURNEY: In the first round of the 2A Softball Tournament. ALA's home field advantage didn't hinder Grand, who blanked the Eagles 10-0. In the consolation bracket, ALA came alive, defeating Duchesne 13-3 to stay in the tournament; however, they lost a heartbreaker to South Summit, 9-8 to be eliminated. |
