Has your family been eating enough fruits and vegetables or do they need to step it up? Are you including enough complex carbohydrates, legumes and other healthy food items? If not, now is the time to re-look at your dietary wants and needs. Now, on to Step Two of our: "Making our life easier and building our food storage while we're at it" by writing down our recipes. Look your menus over and find all of your repeat recipes and add up how many times you intend to eat them over the next month or two. A good example of that would be breakfast. How many times do you eat eggs, toast and juice or oatmeal, toast and milk? How about cold cereal or French toast? You will need that information for Step Three. Whatever you have written down, you will need to type it up as a recipe. If you have four people in your family and they each eat two cups of cereal with one cup (which is 8oz.) of milk pes with your extra menus on their cereal, a glass in the front pouch from the of milk (which is about last step. They were privileged to hear from Kevin Bardsley whose son, Garrett, was lost in the Uinta Mountains a few years ago and, to this day, has never been found. He explained how this tragedy has turned into something beautiful with the humanitarian work the Bardsley family has been involved with in the intervening years in Central and South America. It has ended up involving many, many people. They had been on one expedition prior to Garretf s disappearance and his delight in serving the people partially motivated them to continue to do this. And, in honor of Garrett, the group built a badly needed school that bears Garrett's name in one of the areas. The meeting was sobering, yet filled with beautiful and inspiring thoughts and we express gratitude to those who made the arrangements for this very special evening. ••• Looking toward June: The annual community's Benjamin Days for 2009, will be held on Thursday June 11, 2009. The starting time is set for 6:30 p.m. with a flag raising ceremony and speaker. Supper, games, a children's parade, a bake/craft sale and the announcement of Benjamin 2009 Citizen of the Year. Please plan to attend our community's celebration and let your family and other former Benjamin residents know of the date and invite them to attend. |
