They can receive the dollars at any time when a faculty member or staff member notices them following the school rules or using the social skills of accepting responsibility, listening, or showing kindness. When a student has earned ten Explorer Dollars they can trade them for a Super Student Token. At the end of the year all the students who received tokens are put into a drawing for a CD boom box. Students in this area must attend a boarding school for their education and generally do not have personal items to take with them. Mr. S. issued a challenge to Foothills students to collect at least 200 items per/grade level for the children in Dennehotso. If all grade levels met the goal, Mr. S. promised that he would spend the day supervising the school — from the roof! On Tuesday, May 27, Mr. S. took his paperwork, chair, desk and carpet (provided by Shepherd's Carpet of Spanish Fork) and spent the day on the roof of the school.
