Show - N E W S Spanish Fork Covering ivhat matters most WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4, 2008 • A7 Reading for the summer Junior Miss June 30, 2008 is the last day to sign up for the Summer Reading Programs offered by the Spanish Fork Library. Findings by literacy experts show that summer reading helps children retain or improve reading skills that can be lost when school is not in session. Reading done for pleasure by the child is vital to the development of a child's literacy skills. Summer Reading provides just that kind of skill-building experience and they can earn prizes as they read! "Catch the Reading Bug" is the theme for elementary aged children and "Hang Loose" is the program theme for Young Adult readers, ages 12-18. now this year is a family reading program, "Catch the FAMILY Reading Bug". Families will participate in some fun reading activities, then have their name put into a drawing for prizes. The library offers several fun story times and other activities during the months of June and July. Please contact us for more details. Library hours are Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and Friday-Saturday 12 p.m.-6 p.m. Eagle Project Courtesy photo FLOWERING MISSES: On May 17, 2008 the contestants of the Spanish Fork-Salem Junior Miss Program, being held on June 11, joined with the citizens of Spanish Fork in planting flowers in the downtown area.
