Show -NEWS- Spanish Fork Covering what matters most WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4, 2008 • A9 The Club' celebrates 45 years together Jen Allen STAFF WRITER Almost 45 years to the day "the Club" celebrated their long lasting friendship. Some of the women have known each other and been friends since their grade school days, while others have joined in the monthly celebration offriendshipjust a few short years later. In fact, all but one of the women was numbered among the first class to graduate from what is now known as the Spanish Fork High School building; it is therefore fitting that their celebration comes just in time as the last combined class of SFHS graduates. The women reminisced about how SFHS was when the school was first built. There was neither a gym nor an auditorium. The pool was simply a hole, and the cafeteria didn't exist either. It is remarkable that no matter what changes life brought to these women — college, marriage, babies, grandchildren and missions — all maintained their strong bonds with one Courtesy photo CLUB PHOTO: Pictured, top row, left to right are Judy Heinline, Phyllis Brock, Vicki Hanks, Sharon Peery and Marcha Edmond; middle row, Bonnie Hales-Hardegen, Mary Lee Flinders, Janice Woodhouse, Judy Woodhouse and Linda Anderson; front row, Jane Anderson, Marie Huff, Marie Olsen and Ruth Ann Nielsen. Not pictured, Vicki Petersen, Janice Carsen and Janet Reynolds. Each meeting is hosted by two women of the group. Each month in planned in advance and there are certain requirements; the first is food and the second is fudge. "We can'thaveclub without the fudge" said Marie (Thomas) Olsen. She, along with Sharon (Cloward) another and held on to their monthly meeting. As life has changed for these women, so have their conversations. They all experienced much of the same things together at the same time. This only strengthened their bonds with one another and fortified their love for each other. Perry, was the hosts for this month's club meeting. But these remarkable women don't get together just once a month. They take yearly trips to each other's cabins, to Park City and also go every couple years on a big trip. Some past adventures have included San Francisco, Vancouver and this year some of the women will be going on a cruise up the coast of the Eastern United States and into Canada. This, group of women embodies the "hometown" feeling that has built Spanish Fork City into the thriving community that it is today. They have made this city their home, their fami- ly's home and enhanced the small town feeling for the whole community. Their knowledge of people in the community is vast and only binds us closer together as a whole city. On their 45th anniversary, Congratulations! Here's to 45 more years of wonderful friendship, love and dedication. • ••*:••?,•• The Utah South Center Company of the DUP Luxurious Townhomes in Salem starting at $184,900 Congratulates the awardwinning Spanish Fork News Choose from many options: • Fully landscaped • Stucco and stone exterior • Solid surface countertops and surrounds • Jetted tubs in master bath • Attached garages • Raised panel cabinets • Several floor plans Model now open!
