Park receives grant Susan Cloward and Dennis Tuckett, Reading Recovery teachers at Park Elementary, received a grant through the Nebo Education Foundation for literacy. This grant will fund sets of books to enhance reading comprehension. "Thank you so much for approving the grant that will allow us to purchase more books for the Reading Recovery program at Park School," said Ms. Cloward. "Reading Recovery is an early intervention program developed to help struggling first grade readers." Mr. Tuckett said, "The success of this program relies on students having access to a variety of books at increasingly more difficult levels. The books range from level one to level 20. Some of our levels need many more books." The Nebo Education Foundation meets the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 a.m. to discuss submitted educational grants for students in Nebo School District. One of the goals of the foundation is to fund worthwhile projects in the district that provide resources to enrich student learning. Susan said, "Because of yourgenerous grant we will be able to purchase more leveled books. These books will give Park School's Reading Recovery students many more reading opportunities in the years to come." Foundation board member, Kent Clafk said, "It is fun to see the grant money delivered directly into the teacher's hands. The grant monies are being used on very important and worthy projects and programs. Thank you to all the donors who make this foundation the success it is." These grants are funded through the fundraising efforts of the Nebo Education Foundation Board. Rees gets music grant Mary Frey, fourth-grade teacher at Rees Elementary, received a music grant through the Nebo Education Foundation. This grant will fund music stands, thunder tubes, and hand drums along with other music materials to enhance music education and theater productions. Ms. Frey said, "I appreciate having the Nebo Foundation ready and willing to help the students and teachers in Nebo District. The students are so excited to play musical instruments and to learn more about music. Many of these students will never have private lessons or have the opportunity to go on in music, so these experiences that we provide in school are critical. It is so rewarding to have students who are struggling in academic areas to be able to succeed in the arts. It brightens their faces and their outlook on education. This improves their self-esteem, and gives them an enthusiasm for learning. Thanks again to the Nebo Foundation and the support they provide." Steve Hardman / Spanish Fork News WRITE TO THE POINT: Brockbank third throtigh sixth grade students had an exciting assembly by author Mike Knudson. Knudson discussed how students can generate ideas to write about. He also shared some of his books and got the students excited about reading and writing. "It's looking like it never happened. First, I want to thank Robarge for the concern they have about their customers and their feelings about the work they performed. It is nice nowadays that there are some businesses that take pride in giving genuine service. I was very pleased with the job that they did on our Equinox. It is now like it should be — looking like it never happened. The workmanship of the repairjs above reproach. Thanks for a job well done.
