Mr. and Mrs. Brad and Sharlee Reeve are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Chrystal Reeve to Blak Russell Meredith son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell and Natalie Meridith on Tuesday the Ninth day of March two thousand and ten in the Manti LDS Temple. You are cordially invited to attend a reception held in their honor on March 12, 2010 from 6-8 pm in the Panguitch Senior Citizen Center 67 North 50 West in Panguitch, Utah MISSIONS SHERRIL C. HENRIE The children and grandchildren of Sherril C. Henrie, Panguitch are excited to announce that she has been called to the Virginia Richmond Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Sister Henrie will speak in the Panguitch Third Ward, 550 S 100 W, 11:00 A.M. on Sunday, March 14, 2010. Sherril is the wife of the late Wallie Henrie, recently retired from Panguitch Middle School where she taught for thirteen years, and has been an ordinance worker at the St. George Temple. She will enter the MTC on March 29, 2010. We'll find out at the Rural Water Association of Utah "Utah's Best Water" contest on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Dixie Center in St. George. There, Utah's Best Water for 2010 will be selected from entries submitted by water systems from across the state. A distinguished panel of judges consisting of the original founders of the Rural Water Association will include retired Division of Drinking Water Director Gayle Smith, retired General Manager of the Salt Lake County Water Conservancy District (now Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District) Robert Hilbert, and retired manger of Castle Valley Special Service District Darrel Leamaster. The judges will rate the top three water samples of those submitted and select the best water in the State based on taste, smell and clarity. A representative from Utah's award-winning water system will accompany a delegation from the Rural Water Association of Utah to Washington DC to attend the National Water Rally next February. There they will compete against the best water winners from other states in the Nation for the National title. Hopefully the 2010 winner will live up to the reputation set by Beaver, Utah, the 2006 Utah winner who also took home Best Water in the Nation. The Rural Water Taste Test is part of the Rural Water Association of Utah's Annual Conference held at the Dixie Center in St. George, Utah, March 1-5, 2010. This conference is the largest water and wastewater conference in the west, 3rd largest in the nation. Each year over 1,600 water and wastewater system employees, elected and appointed officials flock to St. George to receive the training they need and earn state-required CEUs (Continuing Education Units). While at the conference, those in attendance get the added bonus of networking with their peers from all across the state, and of having the latest innovations in the water and wastewater industry to peruse in an exhibit hall of over 200 booths and vendors. And 2010 is a banner year—the Association turns 30 this year so the Conference will be a celebration of not only the growth RWAU has experienced over the years, but also the successes of Utah's water and wastewater systems. The Rural Water Association of Utah provides training and technical assistance to water and wastewater systems, enabling them to stay current with new technologies and rules and regulations so that they may better serve the citizens of Utah. CEU ONE STEP CLOSER TO AFFILIATION WITH USU A unanimous preliminary vote in the Senate on Friday puts the College of Eastern Utah one step closer to a proposed affiliation with Utah State University. SB69, sponsored by Sen. David Hinkins, R-Orangeville, puts the care of the two-year community college, which has struggled with enrollment numbers and finances, under the authority of the research institution in Logan, however, with a chancellor at the helm. The legislation changes the name of the school to Utah State University-College of Eastern Utah and establishes it as a "comprehensive regional college of USU." Utah State already operates three regional campuses, in Brigham City, Tooele and the Uinta Basin. Officials at both institutions have expressed satisfaction with the proposed model, which CEU interim president Mike King said "has the potential to be the best thing that's happened to higher education in southeastern Utah." He said talks to merge the two institutions have been ongoing for several years, but the community college mission and preserving the culture there have been paramount to a final decision. Commissioner of Higher Education William Sederburg said the decision "is not driven by the economy; it's not driven by cost savings; it is really driven by the need to enhance educational opportunities in southeastern Utah." It is projected that USU will provide additional bachelor's degree and graduate programs to the merged CEU upon final approval in the Senate and acceptance in the House.
