Show M3IA321 flAil INTRODUCTION Taking care of your body, especially during school, is important. But tight budgets and tight schedules often interfere with that need—the new Student Life and Wellness Center can help with that. In 2011, a study at UVU showed that the top three things that negatively affected student's academic success were sleep difficulties, stress and sickness. School officials recognized the need for students to remain healthy so they could be more successful in their classes. The mission of the SLWC "is to enrich the quality of life for students, CONTRIBUTORS: faculty and staff by providing a broad range of recreation, wellness and student engagement opportunities that complement the academic experience," as stated on their website. The new center has services and facilities to provide physical fitness and relaxation techniques, which are great ways to improve health. To appeal to the range of experience people have, the various programs will have ratings for beginners, intermediate and advanced levels. Students who are taking seven or more credits will have free access to U ■ the SLWC with signed forms. Membership rates vary for current employees, retired employees, alumni or guests. Lockers will also be available to rent for a fee. The Outdoor Adventure Center and the UVUSA office have been moved into the SLWC. Intramural events will also take place in the center. As you will be able to see through this user guide, the SLWC is a place for students, as well as the community, to be able to keep themselves healthy and active in an environment full of people who are trying to do the same.
