Testing Center 411 Melodie Navalta News Writer Financial help is here For thousands of UVSC Students finacial aid is their Red Cross Megan Leavitt News Writer UVSC students get new opportunities to help in struggle to pay for higher education. With the raising of tuition every year, which went up about a hundred dollars per semester this year, everyone is looking for a way to help pay. With nearly 28 percent of UVSC students taking out loans and many more receiving other forms of financial aid it would seem only fitting that as this new school year commences students should learn1 about the new grants, that many can qualify for. The new grants are called the AGC or the Academic Competitiveness Grant, and the SMART grant. Both AGC and the SMART are for those students that are in their majors and looking for a way to help fund them. The amount of awards are $750 for first year students and $1,300 for second year students — this is for the AGC. The SMART is for third and fourth year students who will receive $4,000. How. does one know if they qualify for these grants? Well the first thing to do is check on your UV link, because if you have already applied for financial aid then you might have already been told about these rewards. Go to www. uvsc.edu/finaid or the One Stop—if you have questions or concerns, they will be able to assist you. The financial aid office is more then happy to help you with any of your concerns about these grants or any other financial aid question. With UVSC being one of the lowest in overall student loan dept in the western United States, it is quite possible that you may qualify for a grant. And even if you are already receiving grant money from the school or government or if you are on scholarship, if you fit the mentioned criteria you may still receive grant money. More information is available via the financial aid UV link or at the financial aid offices. The new location of the Testing Center is 1165 West 800 South, which is on the northwest corner of campus.
