Show FREEBIRDS WORLD BUIRITCT e best brands for the post-college fashion icon he most expensive piece of clothing in my closet is a jacket. Not just any jacket, mind you — a leather belt jacket I bought a few years back.To clarify, this jacket is comprised of different colored belts sewn together in an edgy manner that would make Tim Burton proud. I snagged this off the racks when H&M worked with the French house Maison Martin Margiela during its annual designer collaboration in the Fall of 2012. Because of its "belty" nature, wearing the jacket results in a symphony of jingles and jangles with each movement as the various buckles clang together. The lining in the right arm is slightly twisted, so if I wear it for too long my arm falls asleep, and I'm left with no choice but to flail my arm like an angry orangutan until blood flows back through. Due to these minor discomforts (and a crippling fear of ruining a jacket whose price is easily quadruple that of my closet's average), I hardly ever wear my Margiela beltjacket. Instead, it patiently hangs on my coat rack anticipating the day I muster the courage to wrap myself in its belted gory. I know what you're thinking "If it's so damn expensive and hard to wear, why don't you just sell it, Addi?! Think of all the other clothes you could buy!" Regardless of how often I wear it or its high (though not, like, sickeningly high) price, the jacket is a novelty. For me, at least, it stands as a symbol of the post-college clothingAddison could potentially wear — you know, when I'm freed from the fiscal prison of tuition, housing and lack of work experience. Since college began and I got my first taste of independence, I've kept a mental list of the brands post-college Addison can (and will) buy that college Addison just can't afford. 400 Here is a selection from that list: Burberry Prorsum — After each London Fashion Week I'm convinced creative director Christopher Bailey has my thoughts bugged. No brand speaks to me quite like Burberry Prorsum does with its triumphant British pride, genius creation of color and striking wearability. Saint Laurent — Ever since Hedi Slimane took control of Yves Saint Laurent in 2012 (and shortened the name to the ever-so-edgy Saint Laurent) I've been obsessed with the idea of filling my closet with its sleek blacks and sophisticated whites — two colors that are tragically underrepresented in my closet. A pair of Saint Laurent ankle boots could fuel me with enough purified happiness to last the rest of my life. Kenzo — Want to know something about me? For the majority of my life I have worked to cover up my fascination with modern Japanese culture. I watched anime religiously in elementary school and often creditTokyo as the world's greatest city. Now, technically speaking, Kenzo is a Parisian brand (founder Kenzo Takada moved to Paris to work in fashion six years before the brand was even born), but the electric personality of Kenzo is distinctly Japanese. A closet full of Kenzo might make your eyes twitch with its bright colors and loud prints, but the unparalleled expressivity of the pieces will make up for those hours at the optometrist. Marc Jacobs — I'd worry I was committing treason if I didn't include at least one American brand. Sure, Marc Jacobs doesn't scream patriotism like Ralph Lauren,Tommy Hilfiger or Calvin Klein might, but Jacobs' dedication to avant-garde presentation and thoughtprovoking design consistently leaves me breathless. Miu Miu — As an offshoot of Prada, this high-fashion brand captures a delightful mixture of luxury and whimsy. Miu Miu is sweet and undeniably candy-coated, but never in a way that seems cheap or frilly (like Katy Perry in the era of "Teenage Dream"). It speaks directly to my inner five-year-old girl, and that fact alone is enough to keep me interested for a lifetime. When it comes down to it, we all want what we can't have. So tell me, what fashion can't you have yet? a.butleOchronicle.utah.edu @ChronyArts I ID OLCE & GABB SPRING 2015 ESIGNER COLLECTIONS 10 { THECHRONY NEWS OPINION ARTS SPORTS WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 25 2015 } We only use Ell-natural, fresh Ingredients In cAr burritos, nachos, rabid', quesatIlllesp bowls end Isom - mods In nue kitchen, dilly.
