Show DAILY 12 MAX HALL continued from Page 11 They would have had to tuck away some longnecks and march into the stadium. Once again, logic is foiled. Outside food or drink cannot be brought into the stadium. Some might say that this is irrelevant, that this plan was so well thought out, so well organized, that the evil-doers would have gone to any lengths to smuggle their contraband into the stadium. Let's say this is true. Let's say that RiceEccles security was on the take and that these hoodlums were able to pull off the first stage of their operation. Now we are left with two basic assumptions—either this spillage was an act of opportunity or it was an act of careful premeditation. In either case, the likelihood of this act occurring is nil. If indeed this was an act of careful planning, the Ute fans would have had to go to such extraordinary lengths to pull it off that they should have been able to coerce a Ute win that day as well. They would have had to know exactly where Hall's family UTAH CHRONICLE was sitting months in advance in order to purchase seats within easy pouring distance. This would have been a logistical nightmare far too great for anyone, much less someone obsessed with wasting beer. This brings me to my second point. Both of these ideas are contingent on the idea that the beer, so stealthily maneuvered into the stadium as it was, would have lasted the entirety of a game untouched. The idea that a Ute fan would have lasted an entire Utah-BYU rivalry game without drinking the beer that they had defied the nearly insurmountable odds to smuggle in is utterly and completely ridiculous. It's not just insane, it's insulting. In the emotionally charged atmosphere of the Utah-BYU rivalry, it's easy to find oneself getting carried away. Liquids are spilled, words are exchanged and relationships are destroyed. I hope that I have been able to at least somewhat lay to rest one of the most egregious myths that has begun to taint this ever-exciting encounter, and I hope Hall will someday come forward and apologize for making fools of us all. Until that time, Go Utes. letters@chronicle.utah.edu FACIAL HAIR continued from Page 11 statistic as a sign of lax hygiene, many see it as a sign of power and sex appeal. Leela Baggett, a senior in political science, says that she would never date a clean-shaven man. "Facial hair is so sexy." Baggett said. "I know I'm with a real man." BYU is notorious for the total lack of facial hair on their men. Students at BYU are required to attend class sans scruff, which they believe is a sign of respect and classiness. But guess what Max Hall fans, it's just not true. Why waste time shaving that could be spent studying or pouring beer on football spectators? Utah's lack of shaving shows their dedication to education and other such lofty endeavors. This week is all about Utah proving its superiority over its neighbor to the south.
