A branch opened last week on 490 East and 500 South, the previous location of Barnes Bank. The credit union, across the street from the downtown Smith's Marketplace, is in an area that is a common shopping destination for students. "We hope for students to utilize our `5th and 5th branch,'" said Kelly Young, marketing specialist. Students who live downtown can use this branch in addition to campus ATMs, she said. "There was a demand for a downtown credit union," Young said. The University Credit Union has more than four on-campus locations and numerous others around the Salt Lake Valley.
