Show Volume XXIX Issue X The Ogden Valley News Page 11 April 1, 2022 Snowcrest Students Excel at 2022 Educators Snowcrest Rising State Conference stuSophia Brammer and Ella Montgomery dents enrolled in the 9th-grade Teaching as a Profession class did some remarkable work that paid off handsomely at the 2022 Educators Rising State Conference. Students were invited to compete with their educational artifacts, scholarly papers, and public speaking skills at the Eccles Conference Center on March 2. Competitions are open to young people registered as Educators Rising members who are interested in a career in teaching or business management. Some popular events are Creative Lecture (Ted Talk), Lesson Planning in CTE and Humanities, Interactive Bulletin Board, Children’s Book Design, and the like. Educators Rising is a career and technical student organization (CTSO) with intracurricular learning opportunities integrated into existing education and training programs. Educators Rising is a community-based movement that provides Grow Your Own programming through the Educators Rising Curriculum and supporting student activities. With a presence in all fifty states, chapters are provided classroom resources along with the opportunity to attend the National Conference where members, teacher leaders, and educators from around the nation come together to showcase the skills they have gained in their education and training programs. Valley students swept the Junior Varsity and Varsity contest categories under the guidance of their coach Maria Inglefield. Winners and their events are listed below. All these students are now invited to present, what their coach calls, “their fabulous work” at the National Conference in Washington D.C. being held this summer, 2022. The Weber School District and the Utah State Board of Education are making strides to address a looming teacher shortage by offering the Teaching as a Profession strand of classes to students in grades 9 -12. Emerging adults can learn about the art of teaching and the management of people while still secondary students themselves. The class is a half-year program at Snowcrest, and students can participate in the strand of teaching classes all the way to concurrent enrollment classes in their junior and senior years. Preparing for a career in public service is something to be proud of, and we are thrilled that our Snowcrest Skyhawks are on the right track to success! Valley Hair Co.
