Show Page 6 The Ogden Valley News Volume XXIX Issue X April 1, 2022 Announcements Happy 80th Birthday Sheila Argyle Sheila Argyle is turning 80! We want to celebrate her life and accomplishments with you. Please join us for an open house in her honor Saturday, April 23 at the LDS Church cultural hall at 4955 Adams Avenue in Ogden, Utah from 4:00 to Sheila Argyle 7:30 p.m. No gifts please. Did you know? Sheila was born in Hailey, Idaho. She is the second of six children. She played the clarinet in school and was a proud member of the Pep Club at Spanish Fork High School. She met her sweetheart, Dell, while participating in a church play. They married in Manti in June of 1960. They moved to Huntsville, Utah in 1965 and loved their many years in the valley. After three church missions—to the Philippines, Albania, and Nauvoo—Sheila and Dell now call Washington Terrace home. One of Sheila’s greatest desires was to be a mother and grandmother. She had to wait a little longer than she wanted for both of these roles. However, she now has seven children, 34 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren with more on the way. Mom has many talents. Both Sheila and Dell taught their children that they could learn to do anything they wanted to with enough practice and time. They have taught by example in this. Sheila is an excellent seamstress. She spent many years sewing clothes for her family and others including fancy western shirts, blessing dresses, and outfits for grandchildren, and a wedding dress for her daughter. She is now turning out quilts at an amazing speed. When Mom wanted stained glass in her home, she ended up teaching herself and has done some beautiful stained-glass projects. Sheila is also an amazing cook and uses those talents to serve her family, church, and friends. One family friend insists it isn’t Christmas without her cinnamon rolls. My parents have always worked together to take care of the needs of their family. They have gardened, hunted, butchered, and canned together. When Dad needed help in the shop, Mom went out and learned woodworking and became his best assistant. Sheila has served in many capacities at Church and is currently enjoying her involvement with Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. What will Sheila do next?
