Awake , My Soul' Was I heme For LDSSA Fall Fireside 4 J - ipf - M w The Salt Lake Tahonwle was filled to overflowing with college - age youth for the Special Fall Fireside sponsored by the LDSSA of the University of Utah. The theme was Awake, My Soul." Tom Colemere, vice president of the organisation, conducted the meeting. We are pleased to welcome Elders Harold B. Lee and Richard L. Evans of the Council of the Twelve and Elder Marion D. Hanks, Assistant to the Twelve, as our General Authority guests, he announced. The Mormon Youth Chorus and Symphony, conducted by Jay E. Welch and Roy M. Darley as organist, provided music for the fireside. Maurine Jensen, a student, introduced the theme. Each of us have a most divine potential, she said and warned her fellow students not to get entangled in the daily activities of school to the point of neglecting the fulfillment of the divine project of life. Every minute, every day we should be actively involved in eternal progression. Learn to love the truth, she said. Elder Hanks advised the youth that, There is nothing more important that you can do than be suitable to the Lord as one who senes Him. The challenges, the difficulties, and the opportunities can be met with wisdom. Wisdom and obedience will instill in you a strength to meet the difficulties of your day, he said. Ask yourself, What shall I make of this one opportunity to live in this world? To what shall I give my talents, gifts and life? What you will be depends on Elder your answer to these questions, Hanks said. Elder Harold B. Lee was the concluding speaker. He told the youth that The greatest expectation of a human soul is to be able to stand in the presence of the Lord.
