Show "Christmas Time" On Temple Square Begins Dec. 5 Salt Lake City's 5t.i annual Christmas Time on Temple Square" season will be ushered in Friday, Dec. 5, at 8 n m with a special ceremony in the historic Mormon Tabernacle. The garden spot in downtown Salt Lake City is once again bedecked with more than 100,000 tiny, glimmering lights which are thread through the trees and shrubs and along the walks and walls of the square. President X. Eldon Tanner, second counselor in the First Presidency, will throw the s a', officially setting the square aglow. The Christmas lights will be featured through Jan. 1. As Pres. Tanner throws the switch for the lights the downbeat o fa baton will trigger the second annual Youth Songfest at Christmas Time. More than 4,200 high school and junior high school singers from throughout the Wasatch Front area of Utah will blend their oices for an hour of 10-ac- 1 Christmas chorale works. The singers have been rehearsing in their respective school choruses for several weeks. Wielding the baton will be Dr. Lorin F. Wheelwright, dean of the College of Fine Arts at Brigham Young University. The BYU Symphony Orchestra, directed by Ralph Laycock, will accompany the sinq-e- i s. Tire public is invited. Meanwhile, outside on the square, the Chiistnns ligh's will entertain many hundreds, both young and cod. Theie11 also be the traditional Nativity Scene between the Tabernacle and the Visitors Center.
