Utah State College never had a bigger backer at the sports events. But he wont make this o ie. Hes been bedridden for two months or more with a bigger battle for his life! 50-ya- rd They say if it wasnt for sporting spirit or just pUin guts, he would have been gone long ago. His weight has gone from 165 pounds to 95 pounda Klein: Top Editor Kiien is probably known for being the Editor and Publisher of the Iron County Record, a weekly newspaper in Cedar City. He is past President of the Utah State Press Assn. (1967), and also, former vice - president, and secretary of the organisation. With the help of men like York Nielson, he fostered the Little League and Pony League programs in Cedar City. He sponsors teams, umpires and even carries the water buckets to make it a success. This writer came into contact with him many times through various activities while attending Southern Utah State College. He was always interested in my journalistic endeavors. The last time I came in contact with Kiien was Class B at thf North-Sout- h game, June 7. He was southerners. His son, Steve played for the old self that day. his same smiling Kiien was an athlete himself. He played baseball and basketball for Cedar High (1949) and BAC (Southern Utah State). He also, played and sponsored softball teams in the area. He was in the LDS Hospital for two months and they brought him home this past weekend. His five sons and Wife are elated over that. But the expenses ($5,000) have created problems. All-St- ar '..They're' Silling Programs At Fridays fray, they are selling football programs for a dollar a piece to help with the expenses.. Hes a cheerleader for Cedar High! for my team, but I Ive got wont be able to use him until the late 1980s. That was Sky Views grid coach Earl Ldndley beaming with pride about the new arrival Sunday a new fullback of his baby boy! Everything seems to be going just right for Lindley. His Bobcats are No. 2 Tuesday on the grid poll. Congratulations are in order. two-oun- Misinterpretations Some columnists have nothing better to write about than to build deathless prose on convenient misinterpretations. This writer still maintains it cheapens a football poll (mind you, not school or league) to have 10 top teams listed when there are only 13 Class B teams in the state. Along with the fancies of the guy who wants 10 top teams of 13, maybe we should have a top 20 in Class A and top 30 in AA. Pros Enter Tennis Meet p gel more exposure proselyters than Deseret News Sports Writer When Cedar High and Dixie High clash in a football fracus, its one of the most bitterly contested rivalries in the state. Merchants close shop and when the dust n clears, there are a lot of mixed emotions. The and the Flyers are pitted against each other again Friday night at Cedar City. This time the game will take a different flavor playing it for F. Kiien Rollo. which round play Monday. The days best opening match was also the days biggest upset. So far this season, its been the same story. Weber has romped to wins its first two times out and Brown has been one of the big reasons why.
