A second rock building wasnt completed until 1916 and the third permanent building wasnt even started until 1952. : But since 1962. buildings have been conducted continually. Today, there are 19 permanent buildings on campus and the master plan calls for several more for the immediate fuiure. The man behind tne tremendous growth of Ricks is John L. Clarke, who has been president for 25 years, nearly twice as long as any other president in the history of the school. When he became president, the campus consisted only of the two rock buildings and a heating plant. Enrollment was small due to the war. The year before, only 14 men 13 freshmen and one sophomore-registe- red at the beginning of the fall term. Pres. Clarke Is a modest, unassuming man who has great love for the school he has served so long. Through his years of leadership. Ricks has become an important part of the educational system of the Church and of the state of Idaho.
