Show yy-- y 24 g DESERET NEWS, Monday, July 7, 1969 The Mormon MANTI a pageant preMiracle, senting highlights of history and beliefs of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints, will be presented by a cast of 400 on Temple Hill in Manti July Narrators will be two Utah dramatists, Macksene Rux and Francis L. Urry. Author Grace Johnson, said in the script modifications have been made to heighten dramatic impact. The cast will include a 250 voice a chorus, orchestra and several acting groups. Directors are Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Dyreng. Codirector is Mrs. Jane Bralth-waitMusical directors are Harry Dean, McLloyd Erickson and Kenneth Graham. Mrs. Rux has been active in both television and theater in California and New York as a director and performer. Since returning to Utah, she has appeared in several University of Utah plays. Urry has had a long and distinguished career in theater. He was the narrator for The Church Pageant and recently performed in People of the Book. The Monnon Miracle was presented by Miss Johnson as a dramatic reading at the centennial conference of the Mutual Improvement Associations of the Church in Salt Lake City in 1947, By CARRICK LEAVITT A teen-age- r MURRAY was shot in the hand and left leg Sunday night when a 22 caliber pistol accidentally discharged while he was demonstrating its operation. The victim, Jeffiey Harrington, 17, of 330 Clark St., was treated and released at Cottonwood HospitaL He told Murray Police Officer Lynn Turner that he was visiting a friends house and was attempting to show how the guns breach operated when the gun misfired. The builet struck his left middle finger and passed through the left leg above the knee. Last year it moved to Temple Hill, with the Manti Temple providing a backdrop, before audiences, totaling about 6,000. The pageant includes narration, tableaus, hymns and patriotic anthems. Among the hymns are Oh, How Lovely Was the Morning, Oh, My Father, and Onward Christian Soldiers. Each center will have a staff of five physicians plus volunteer assistants. They will look after routine medical needs and administer emergency first aid in serious cases before sending them by ambulance to the jamboree hospital. More than 200 physicians, many of them coming with hometown troops, will be at the jamboree. Advance health planning has included a special insect and rodent control program to eliminate the annoyance of buzzing mosquitos and raiding field mice. , The jamboree health program is under the direc- tion of Dr. Louis A. Gaul, deputy director of the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in Seattle.
