The most complete booklet I received concerning clothing for handicapped children came from the National Society for Crippled Children and Adults. This booklet Is available for 50 cents and may be obtained by writing to the National Society at 2023 W. Ogden Ave., Chicago, HI., 60612. Mrs. Walter DeLong, Larkspur, Calif, is this weeks Tailor Trix pressing board winner for her following suggestion: My suggestion seems timely since floor cushions are so great for teenagers rooms, or dens, or whatever. Terry bath mats make marvelous ones. Simply sew two together and stuff with shredded foam rubber. Dear Mrs. K.E.T.: The huge sleeves you are referring to are not suitable for heavy fabrics no matter what the climate Is. I would suggest either a short sleeve or a full length sleeve. More and more women are returning to the idea of sleeves even in hot climates because when the heat is excessive, we usually have air conditioning, especially In restaurants and theaters. SEW SIMPLE Theyre so durable, comwashable, pletely machine and tumble dry to look new each time. Heavy bath towels in the new dark colors with marvelous medallions in the center are also very decorative. While making these cushions, Ive come up with an trick I havent upholstery seen anywhere before. Most pillows tend to turn up in of looking nice and square. Measure a point 3 inches out in direction from every corner. Trim y, inch off the corner tapering to nothing at the mark, on each side of every comer. Ive tried this with plaids and stripes and they arent distorted by this stitching. You will have beautiful square looking corners on your pillows each and every time. (P.S. Ive tried it, and it does work like magic!) Dear Mrs. Farmer: Please advise me on sleeves for cocktail or informal evening dress- - es for summer. The pattern books are filled with the huge, billowing, puffed or gathered into cuffed sleeves. These sleeves are not only too hot to wear but don't seem appropriate for embroidered linens or cotton brocades that are worn in very hot climates. --Mrs. E.E.T. For a coordinated look in the home, try covering window shades with fabric, to match curtains and-o- r slipcovers. You can achieve tho custom look by covering wooden window valences with wallpaper to match the walls or fabric to match curtains or upholstery. ADVERTISEMENT Confused?
