Seminary Students Follow 'Love Thy Neighbor' Theme The scriptures are taught In the seminaries and institutes of the Church and In most cases file students get a fair understanding of the teachings contained in the Bible. For students at East High School seminary in Salt Lake City, two verses In the New Testament have special meaning as the students put these particular verses into action. The verses are . . Inasmuch as ye have done it onto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it onto me (Matt 25:40), and "Thou shal love thy neighbor as thyself. (Mark 12:31). For Walter Guedes de Queiroz of Sao Paulo, Brazil, It was a great blessing for he, his son and daughter. It was through application of these two great principles that Pres. Queiroz, a counselor in the Sao Paulo Stake presidency, was able to have hls children sealed to him in the Salt Lake Temple during the recent General Conference time. Last fall, Pres. Queiroz lost his wife to cancer. His dream has been to be able to go to the temple and have her and the children sealed to him. But finances posed a problem. He was able to come to Salt Lake City for conference but paying air fare for babel Christina, 10, and Walter Jr., 7, was out of the question. A returned missionary mentioned the Quelrozs plight to a brother who attended East High Seminary. The plan got rolling to raise funds to pay the way for the children to come with their fattier to Salt Lake City. Auctions were held along with other ideas, said Kenneth Jackson, seminary principal. Even a pup was aucfund-raisin- g tioned off. Instead of the $1,300 needed for the youngsters fare, more than $3,000 was raised. A family from Canada also was the recipient of funds to attend the temple. The rest of the money will be used to buy books for rest and recreation retreats for servicemen. "Ihls Is a miracle for me to be able to have my family sealed to me as a unit, said Pres. Queiroz. "The loss of my wife has been great, as anyone who has gone through this can understand. My children live with their grandparents in Rio de Janeiro so they can have the guidance of a good woman and attend school. But we get together as often as finances aid time permits, he added. For the two youngsters the trip to Salt Lake City was the ultimate. It was the first time they had seen snow. "When we had the snow during conference, the two youngsters ran out barefoot- - ed to stand in the snow and see what It was like, said B. G. Holbrook of Salt Lake City. The Queiroz family stayed with the Holbrooks during their stay in the Utah capitaL Pres. Queiroz has been a member of the Church for the past 12 years.
